กล้วยไม้ดิน มิสโจคิม (2) - Handmade Clay Miss Joaquim (2)

สวัสดีค่ะ
วันนี้เรามาเฉลยกันนะคะว่า  ทำไมกล้วยไม้นี้จึงมีชื่อว่า  มิสโจคิม และมีความเกี่ยวข้องอย่างไรกับประเทศสิงคโปร์

เรื่องก็มีอยู่ว่า  กล้วยไม้ชนิดนี้ถูกค้นพบครั้งแรกในปี 1893 ที่สวนของ Miss Agnes Joaquim ลูกสาวของพ่อค้าชาว Armenian ในสิงคโปร์  และได้จดทะเบียนชื่อภายในปีเดียวกันนั้นเอง  Vanda Miss Joaquim เป็นพันธุ์ลูกผสมระหว่าง Vanda teres และ Vanda hookerana.

ต่อมาในปี 1981,  สิงคโปร์ ได้ค้ดเลือกให้ Vanda Miss Joaquim เป็นดอกไม้ประจำชาติของสิงคโปร์  เนื่องจากกล้วยไม้โจคิม เติบโตง่าย มีความแข็งแรง ปรับตัวเข้ากับสิ่งแวดล้อมได้ทุุกสภาพ และสามารถออกดอกได้ตลอดทั้งปี

เปรียบเหมือนคนสิงคโปร์ ที่มีความอดทน แข็งแกร่ง ยืดหยุ่น ชอบแสวงหาความก้าวหน้า ความเป็นเลิศ ในทุกแง่มุมของชีวิต นอกจากนี้  สิงคโปร์ยังเป็นแหล่งเพาะปลูก  และส่งออกกล้วยไม้ชนิดต่างๆ ไปทั่วโลกอีกด้วย  จึงเลือกกล้วยไม้ Miss Joaquim เป็นดอกไม้ประจำชาติ  (ความคิดอ่านเขาลึกซึ้ง สมแล้วที่เขาเป็นศูนย์กลางการค้าแห่งหนึ่งของเอเชีย)

This orchid was first discovered in 1893, in the garden of Miss Agnes Joaquim, the daughter of an Armenian merchant in Singapore. It was registered within the same year. The Vanda Miss Joaquim is a hybrid between the Vanda teres and the Vanda hookerana.

On 15 April 1981, the Vanda Miss Joaquim was proclaimed the National Flower of Singapore by then Minister of Culture S. Dhanabalan, because it is hardy and resilient qualities and its ability to bloom throughout the year.

These are characteristics which reflect Singapore's quest for progress and excellence in all aspects of life.  Orchids are a national passion, and Singapore plays a major role in the cultivation and supply of orchids to the world.
